I’ve had it with these mother fucking THUMBS in these mother fucking CL truck ads!

Seriously, I haven’t really cruised CL for cars in a couple years and now it seems like every other ad has an out of focus picture with some idiot’s thumb in it. I don’t really care that they want to cover their plate, but don’t you have a piece of junk mail sitting around you could cover it with? Or use one of the many finger painting apps on your phone to black it out ?

Even stupid people will argue for it here, so it’s hopeless.

I call this focus effect “Blockeh”

It’s a photography thing.

But, but if they put up their license plate on the internet someone can hack and force them to do illegal shit via mind control. One cannot be too careful these days.

I’m not arguing for it, but if the car was in focus instead of their stupid fat thumbs  I probably wouldn’t care.

How do you know that first one isn’t a middle finger?

Still don’t understand the point of blocking something that’s visible to ALL OF THE PUBLIC ALL OF THE TIME and in particular, blocking it from people at least *one* of whom you expect to meet in person and exchange substantial amounts of money for goods.

Well the truck’s an Autobot, so clearly the driver is a good person.

At the very least, make sure your thumbprint is in focus so I can copy it, build an elaborate silicon mold, and steal your identity.  Inconsiderate...

When a license plate number that’s visible to the public literally 100% of the time is too much personal info to share but they have their phone number in the ad...

Hide the number plate, show your personal cell phone number in the ad. Sounds good to me.

The general public isn’t the internet.  The internet is it’s own beast.

I don’t get why people don’t just blur out the number with iPhoto or something before they upload the picture.

But I REALLY don’t get why people feel they even need to block or obscure their license plate at all. I mean, what danger do they think they are inviting by posting a picture of their license plate online that driving all around the place  with it on the back of the car everyday doesn’t?
